LANCASTER, Calif. (KTLA) — Sheriff’s detectives are searching for a sexual predator who raped a 14-year-old girl who was walking to school.
It happened around 6:15 a.m. Thursday in the 2000 block of East Avenue J-8.
The girl noticed the suspect walking behind her and, believing she was being followed, she crossed to the other side of the street.
She noticed that the suspect had also crossed the street and was getting closer to her.
The suspect grabbed the victim and dragged her into the bushes along the south side of the street, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.
He eventually fled the location on foot toward 20th Street East.
The victim went to a local residence and contacted the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. She was taken to a local hosptial for treatment.
The suspect is described as a black male about 30-35 years old and 5’7″-5’8″ tall with dreadlocks.
Authorities say deputies will be increasing uniformed patrols in the area to ensure the safety of kids walking to and from school.

That is a horrible thing to do to a child. I live in the neighborhood where this happened and if it is the person I’m thinking of I’ve seen him walking around before. Which is scary because we have a 9 year old daughter that plays outside with her friends. I feel sorry for the girl and our thoughts go out to her.

whether she's "latina" or not shouldn't matter. If the rapist was latin then he'd have the option of slipping back into mexico with all of the other criminals who hide out. Since he is black and most likely a citizen when he is caught he will pay to the full extent of the law…

What a really dumb comment! God bless you dumb ass….Doesn't matter what color he is the fact of the matter is she was harmed by this guy and he needs to pay for what he did. We send our kids to school and we just don't know what could happen on the way there or even in school. There is to much going on these days. I pray for her and her family and I pay that they catch this guy….
