MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KTLA
) — Investigators are looking for more potential victims of a South Bay taxi driver arrested for sexual assault.
Detectives from the Manhattan Beach Police Department say the suspect, a resident of Torrance, inappropriately touched the victims on two separate occasions.
One victim says she was assaulted on August 19 near 2nd Street and Meadows Avenue in Manhattan Beach.
She did not initially report the crime, but decided to contact authorities after seeing a news broadcast about a similar assault in Redondo Beach.
Redondo Beach police detectives are handling the investigation of the second incident.
Both law enforcement agencies believe there may be more victims.
The taxi driver was arrested on Thursday. He was able to make bail and is due in court in January.
Police have not released the suspect’s name or the name of the cab company, citing the ongoing investigation.
The suspect was investigated in 2010 in a similar circumstance, but the district attorney’s office did not file charges because of insufficient evidence.
