Southern California will rain and mountain snow over the weekend. The first storm moved in Friday night and could leave up to three-quarters of an inch rain in and around the LA basin, San Fernando Valley, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.
Snow is also expected to fall in the mountains, with the highest elevations expected to see up to 5 inches. Elevations of 3,500 feet, including Lancaster and Palmdale, will see a light dusting of snow and temperatures around freezing.
Temperatures Saturday are expected to reach the high 50s to low 60s during the day and fall into the 40s in the evening.
On Sunday, a second wave of storms will begin and continue into the night bring a 50 percent chance of light rains throughout the region.
