Police Searching for Drug Suspect near USC

EXPOSITION PARK, Calif. — Los Angeles police were searching Saturday for a man suspected of possessing narcotics near the USC campus.

Authorities had stopped a motorist on a traffic violation at 34th Street and McClintock Avenue about 11:50 a.m. when he ran toward the campus, police said. Officers found narcotics in the vehicle, an LAPD officer said.

The man is described as a 5-foot-10 black man who weighs 210 pounds, police said. He was wearing a white T-shirt and black pants.

Authorities believe the man was not carrying weapons at the time. USC students received alerts advising them to “stay away from the area” of the John McKay Center and Heritage Hall.

Anyone with information is asked to call the LAPD Southwest division at (213) 485-2582. Tipsters wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
