LADERA HEIGHTS (KTLA) — Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fire that broke out at an apartment in Ladera Heights late Friday night that killed one woman and left two others injured.
The fire was first reported just before 11 p.m. in a second story apartment in a building in the 6700 block of Springpark Avenue.
After an hour of effort, firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a woman was transported to a local hospital where she later died.
Two other people suffered smoke inhalation and were treated at the scene.
Detectives from the arson and homicide bureaus are investigating the fire and the woman’s cause of death.
