SYLMAR (KTLA) — A man dubbed by police as the “Ear Gauge” stalker is in custody after turning himself in.
Just hours after police released a composite sketch of the suspect, 20-year-old Kevion Ray Hunt walked into the San Fernando LAPD station with his mother to turn himself in.
Hunt’s mother told detectives that she wanted to speak with investigators because she knew police were looking for her son. Hunt was booked on charges of attempted rape and is being held on $100,000 bail.
Police say the ‘Ear Gauge’ suspect was connected to assaults of two women at an apartment complex in Sylmar last weekend.
In both cases he engaged the women in small talk before grabbing them.
In his second attack, the suspect dragged the woman from the area and into a secluded spot before passersby confronted him.
Both women were able to get away unharmed.
“The suspect’s bold behavior speaks to someone who is impulsive and probably compulsive,” said Lt. Paul Vernon, head of the Mission Detective Division.
