Despite recent news reports, the family of singer Jenni Rivera will not hold a public memorial for the Latin music superstar in her hometown of Long Beach.
The city of Long Beach released a statement Monday afternoon, confirming that the Rivera family had been working with city officials over the past several days on plans for a public memorial, but the family decided against holding the event in Long Beach. There was no reason given for the family’s decision.
Rivera, 43, a mother of five who oversaw a growing international business empire, was killed when a jet crashed Sunday December 9, near Iturbide, Mexico. Six others, including two pilots, also were on board.
