UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. (KTLA) — A public memorial service for Jenni Rivera will be held Wednesday at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal CityWalk.
The memorial will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and will be led by minister Pedro Rivera Jr.
Her brother said he hopes a memorial will mark her “graduation into heaven.”
“We will celebrate the graduation into heaven, with honors, of our beloved mother, daughter and sister Jenni Rivera,” the family said in a statement.
A private burial service will be held separately, and her family is asking for privacy and discretion at that time.
Rivera and six other people were killed when their plane crashed near Iturbide, Mexico, earlier this month. Rivera was 43.
The investigation into the crash continues. The Drug Enforcement Administration is looking into the company that owned the plane, the agency said.
Court records that surfaced after the crash revealed that the aviation company, Starwood Management, had two planes authorities seized this year.
In lieu of flowers, family members ask that donations be made to the Jenni Rivera Love Foundation.
