Garden Grove PD Gun Turn-in Nets Weapons, Ammunition

GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KTLA) — The Garden Grove Police Department held a voluntary gun turn-in on Sunday.

People were able to bring firearms, ammunition and explosive devices to the department without any repercussions.

In four hours, officers collected nine guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

One of the weapons collected Sunday included a semi-automatic assault rifle similar to the one used in the Newtown, Connecticut, school shooting.

All the items turned in Sunday were destroyed by the department.
