LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — An 80-year-old woman is dead after a fire broke out in her Chinatown apartment, authorities said.
The blaze erupted just after 6 p.m. Wednesday on the second floor of a two-story building in the 700 block of North Cleveland Street.
It took 44 firefighters about 13 minutes to knock down the flames, which were contained to one bedroom.
The woman suffered second and third-degree burns to nearly 80 percent of her body. She was listed in grave condition and later died.
Two other people were critically injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
