MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — Police have identified a taxi driver from the South Bay arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting female passengers.
Manhattan Beach police say that 28-year-old Sameh Shenouda, 38, was arrested on November 21.
The Manhattan Beach case stemmed from an August 19 incident, according to police.
The victim did not initially report the crime until she saw a news report about a similar incident occurring in Redondo Beach.
Police in Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach have been working together on the case.
Shenouda worked for United Taxi, and investigators say that the company has been very cooperative.
Due to media coverage, Manhattan Beach police have received several calls from possible victims and inquiries from surrounding law enforcement agencies.
Detectives believe the same individual may be responsible for additional crimes that went unreported.
They are asking anyone who has been assaulted or touched inappropriately by a cab driver in the South Bay in the past year to contact authorities.
