SHANGHAI, China — Fifteen people were hurt when a shark tank burst inside a shopping center in China, flooding the mall with 33 tons of water.
Video captured the moment the tank broke at the Shanghai Orient Shopping Center, showering panicked shoppers with shards of glass.
According to local media, three lemon sharks surfed the water explosion into the mall when the 5.9-inch acrylic glass shattered.
Police said most of the people watching the tank were injured with deep cuts and bruises.
No reason has been given for the break, which happened on Dec. 19.
Some shoppers said they thought a sudden drop in temperature might have caused it.
The aquarium was installed at the mall two years ago and became a popular local attraction. The shopping says they plan to rebuild it.
