Suspect Arrested in Rape of Lancaster Girl on Her Way to School
LANCASTER, Calif. (KTLA) — A man suspected of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl on her way to school was arrested Thursday.
Charles James, 30, of Antelope Valley is accused of grabbing the girl as she walked to Eastside High School, dragging her into the bushes and sexually assaulting her on Dec 13.
The suspect ran away after the assault.
The girl went to a nearby home and contacted authorities.
James contacted detectives Wednesday evening after learning authorities were looking for him.
He was calling from a friend’s home in Greenville, S.C.
James was taken into custody by local law enforcement officials Thursday morning.
He is facing 5 felony counts related to the attack.
