Missing Southland Toddler Found in Kentucky
LEXINGTON, KY — A 17-month-old girl reported missing from Los Angeles back in October has been found safe.
Alouette Day-Moreno-Baltierra was found on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington with a woman claiming to be her grandmother.
Campus police received a phone call Thursday evening notifying them of a woman behaving suspiciously on university grounds, WKYT reports.
Responding officers questioned the woman and discovered the girl had been reported missing from Los Angeles on Oct. 15.
A missing persons report filed by the Los Angeles Police Department in October stated that the young girl “may be in the company of her grandmother.”
The grandmother, identified as Maria Baltierra-DeJesus, was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and custodial interference in Kentucky.
She could face additional charges in California.
The child is currently in the care of Child Protective Services.
