Victims Identified in Deadly Riverside Bus Bench Crash

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KTLA) — The Riverside County coroner’s office has now released the names of the woman and child killed when a car jumped the curb and plowed into a bus bench Friday.

The adult victim is Melissa Bernal, a 28-year-old resident of the city of Riverside.

The child has been identified as seven-year-old Aniya Mitchell of Corona.

The two lost their lives Friday afternoon when a man traveling westbound on Magnolia somehow lost control, swerved across three lanes of traffic before hitting four people waiting at the bus stop near the West Plaza Shopping Center.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said two other people were critically injured.
