Hundreds Take Part in L.A.’s Annual Polar Bear Plunge
SAN PEDRO, Calif. (KTLA) — Freezing temperatures in the Pacific Ocean didn’t stop hundreds of people from partaking in an annual New Year’s tradition.
Hundreds of enthusiastic swimmers dashed into the water to celebrate the 60th Annual Cabrillo Beach Polar Bear Plunge.
Even L.A. City Councilman Tom LaBonge and L.A. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich joined in on the fun.
“Amazing! Super cold, but super alive,” one participant said after taking the plunge. “Invigorating!” another brave swimmer declared.
“I’m seven, and I’ve been doing it every year since I was three!” one very chilly little girl announced.
The Polar Bear Club of Cabrillo Beach is dedicated to swimming, fitness, fun and community service.
