Patti Page, ‘Tennessee Waltz’ Singer, Dies at 85

ENCINITAS, Calif. (KTLA) — Vocal legend Clara Ann Fowler, known by her professional name Patti Page, died on New Year’s Day at the age of 85, according to her manager.

Page’s signature song, “Tennessee Waltz”, recorded in 1950, was one of the biggest-selling singles of the 20th century, and is also one of the two official state songs of Tennessee.

She was the best-selling female artist of the 1950s, and sold over 100 million records.

Page had three additional No. 1 hit singles between 1950 and 1953, with “All My Love (Bolero)”, “I Went to Your Wedding”, and “(How Much Is That) Doggie in the Window”.

Flowers will be placed on Page’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star at 3 p.m.

The star is located at 6760 Hollywood Boulevard.

    when i was around 5 yrs. old i wanted to sing just like Patti Page. till today i always remember the way she sang and i still wish i became a singer just like her.

    Tennessee Waltz and How Much Is That Doggie in The Window that is a Special to me .

    I will always remember beautiful Patti Page and my favorite song since age five, 'How Much is That Doggie in the Window" . . . a lovely, gracious lady who will be truly missed. God Bless.

    I'll see your Patti Page and raise you Chuck Berry…he's 86, had several top hits where he wrote the song lyrics, and the music, and played the lead instrument, and did the recorded vocals. No other musician/composer even comes close to that level of accomplishment….
