PASADENA, Calif. (KTLA) — The 124th Rose Parade in Pasadena featured not only spectacular floats, but also a wedding and an emotional family reunion.
The theme for this year’s parade was “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” and paradegoers turned out in troves along Colorado Boulevard for the big event.
The crowd of more than 700,000 was wowed by several touching moments, including a wedding on the Farmer’s Insurance float.
Also, a solider surprised his wife and 4 year-old-son — one of the most popular parts of the day.
Over 18 million flowers were used to make the floats. The parade route is 5.5 miles and took over two hours.
As for the winners, the city of Burbank won the Fantasy Trophy, Natural Balance took home the Past Presidents’ Trophy and Kaiser Permanente won the Best Theme Trophy.
And after the parade, thousands of people headed to the post-event to get a close up view of the floats.
The floats will be on display again on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the intersection of Sierra Madre and Washington boulevards in Pasadena.
