Man Suspected of Robbing Grandfather Arrested After Standoff

NORTH HILLS, Calif. (KTLA) — A man suspected of robbing his grandfather has been arrested after barricading himself in a motel room Friday for more than three hours.

The male suspect barricaded himself inside the Budget Inn at 9151 Sepulveda Blvd in North Hills.

Officers wanted to question the man regarding his grandfather, who’d been robbed three times this month.

When they knocked on the motel door, police say he barricaded himself in, and loaded his shotgun.

That’s when the SWAT team fired tear gas into the room and he surrendered.

No other people were reported to be in the motel room.
