LOS ANGELES — Road closures are planned Saturday night in downtown Los Angeles and Elysian Park to make way for a half-marathon that will take runners inside Dodger Stadium.
The 2013 New Year’s Race is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. at 7th Street and Grand Avenue.
More than 6,500 runners are expected to participate in the event, which includes a 5K and kids’ fun run. A festival will take place at the finish line at 11th and Hope Streets.
Affected streets include Broadway, Cesar Chavez Avenue and Stadium Way near Dodger Stadium. Some of the closures will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday. The route will be marked with restricted parking signs.

Metro bus routes have already been detoured, and some will continue until Sunday morning.

According to Metro’s website, the best way to avoid detours is to use Metro Rail.
