The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in A.D. 79 destroyed, but preserved the city of Pompeii and neighboring towns.

Archeologists and scientist considered the area the best place to access the daily lives of ancient Romans.

This is the last weekend to visit Petersen Automotive Museum’s underground vault. Usually ONLY museum staff, docents, curators and industry insiders are allowed in the vault.

For the first time in the museum’s history, get a private peek at more than 150-vehicles and other automotive treasures not on display in the museum. Many of the rare items belonged to world leaders, actors, rock stars, famous collectors and museum founder Robert E. Petersen.

Tours are intimate. No more than 10 people at a time. Guests must be over the age of 12. Photography is not permitted.

The swap meet offers a mix of one-of-a-kind used treasures as well as new merchandise and features a colorful array of vendors who sell everything from produce and fresh flowers to unique crafts.

Proceeds from the swap meet go to the college’s credit program which funds more than 150 course sections each year.

I know we do not want to admit it, but here’s proof the holiday season is over. It’s recycle your Christmas tree time.

For Torrance residents, the recycling program is part of your curbside collection. Be sure to remove all of the decorations and cut trees in half.

I hate to tell you, but flocked trees are NOT recyclable. For more information, call the city of Torrance public works department.
