Lindsay Lohan Dodges Charges in NY, For Now

NEW YORK (KTLA) — Prosecutors in New York on Monday delayed proceedings in actress Lindsay Lohan’s nightclub assault case.

The 26-year-old did not show up to court. Her New York attorney, Mark Heller, signed some paperwork, but no hearing was held.

Lohan was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge after allegedly punching a woman in the early morning hours of November 29, 2012.

She is accused of hitting Tiffany Mitchell, 28, of West Palm Beach, Florida, at the trendy Avenue Lounge in Manhattan’s Chelsea district.

A spokesman for the Office of Court Administration said that a criminal complaint has not been drawn up at this time.

Prosecutors said that the investigation into the case is continuing.

“Once again, Lindsay Lohan is a victim of someone trying to capture their 15 minutes of fame,” Heller told CNN back in November.

“From my initial investigation, I am completely confident that this case will be concluded favorably and that Lindsay will be totally exonerated,” he added.

Meantime, the “Mean Girls” star is scheduled to appear at a probation violation hearing in Los Angeles on January 15.

Lohan was on probation after a 2011 conviction for stealing a necklace, but that was jeopardized after she was charged in connection with a crash in Santa Monica last summer.

The charges in the Santa Monica case came down the same day that Lohan was arrested in New York.

She is accused of giving false information to a police officer, obstructing or resisting a police officer in performance of his duty and reckless driving.
