Flu Season Starts Earlier

flu  This year’s flu season could be a bad one.

The Centers for Disease Control reports that nearly 30 states are reporting high flu-like activity, up from 16 the week before.

Health experts say a flu outbreak has already hit the South and the East and is now heading toward the Western U.S.

So far, more than 2200 people have been hospitalized with flu-like symptoms across the country this flu season.  Eighteen children have died from influenza.

We spoke to Dr. Arleen Rockoff, infectious disease specialist at Kaiser-Permanente in Woodland Hills.   She says your best protection against the flu is a flu shot.
