“The Biggest Loser” trainer Bob Harper joined us with helpful tips on how to maintain your health and fitness resolutions, and what types of foods to avoid and enjoy.  For more details on what Bob talked about during the segment, see the information below.  You can catch the Biggest Loser Mondays at 8pm on NBC.

How to Maintain Your NY Resolutions:

1.  Keep your goals realistic/attainable

2. Set Reminders on your phone to drink water, eat breakfast, etc.

3.  Workout Buddy- get someone like-minded who will support and encourage.

4.  Join Gym Email Subscriber List- this will keep you apprised on new classes, etc.

5. Write in a Journal- hold yourself accountable

What type of Foods to Enjoy and What type of Foods you should avoid:

Wake Up

YES- Drink a tall glass of water and take Omega-3 Fish Oil.

NO- Fruit Juices- extremely high in sugar and calories.  Avoid sugary drinks.

 Breakfast (carb heavy)

Yes- Quaker Oatmeal with eggs and fresh fruits.  This combination is high in fiber and protein.

No- Granola.  Although it may seem healthy, most brands are loaded in sugar and fat.  Also avoid fast food or microwavable breakfast sandwiches.

 Lunch

Yes- Salad with Chicken and light balsamic vinaigrette.  Load your plate with 3-4 cups of veggies and 4-5oz of a lean protein.  No one has gained weight by eating vegetables!!

No- Chicken Salad (or tuna) Sandwich with Chips. Be careful when eating premade sandwiches, as they are usually made with high fat mayo. 

 Dinner

Yes: Spaghetti Squash with Veggie Sauce.  Spaghetti squash is an amazing no-carb alternative to pastas.  Serve with lean proteins and veggie-packed sauce.

No: Spaghetti.  Try to avoid carbs at night!
