New Security Measures Go into Effect at USC

LOS ANGELES — For the first time ever USC is now a closed campus after dark.

That’s when most of the school’s 30 entrances to campus will close.

And students will have to show ID to security at the eight gates staying open.

Safety concerns at USC elevated after a shooting on campus last Halloween left four people injured.

Two other students fatally shot during a robbery attempt a mile away from campus.

There are some extra steps students and faculty will have to take to have visitors after 9:00 p.m.

They’ll have to log onto USC’s website and register their guest before security will allow them through the gates.

Guards will be staffed around the clock to enforce the new rules at the gates and at residence halls.

The gates will open up again after six in the morning.
