Magazines are still one of the best ways to kick back and relax. And, two iPad apps are hoping to change the way we read magazines.
Instead of waiting for your magazines to arrive in the mail, just open an app on your tablet to access an unlimited subscriptions for one monthly price.
“It’s like Netflix for magazines,” said Morgan Guenther of Next Issue Media. “There are five or ten thousand magazines out there… the ones people want to read and that sell, we got everyone of those.”
Next Issue starts at $10 a month and offers 80 of the biggest names.
Another digital magazine app, Pixel Mags’s Readr has an interesting twist. Unlike competitors, Readr offers twenty minutes of free reading time every month.
It’s like going to the bookstore and checking out the magazines with your coffee, except you don’t have to leave your house.
“This is going to gives consumers a discoverability aspect when searching for digital magazines,” said Ryan Marquis of Pixel Mags.
Pixel Mags offers a wide range of selection from horse and hound to cycling, photography, snowboarding, plus hundreds more.
A plus, the selection is heavy on niche titles and even U.K. versions.
“So whatever your taste and flavor is we will absolutely have for you,” said Marquis.
No matter your choice of app, virtual subscriptions offer relief from the bombardment of renewal notices in the mail, and you can cancel at any time.
