DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KTLA) – A full slate of festivities marks the official start of the Stanley Cup champion L.A. Kings’ lockout-shortened 2013 season at Staples Center Saturday morning.
The celebration gets underway at 9:30 a.m., with a host of fan- and family-friendly activities outside Staples during the pregame Fan Fest.
At 10:00 a.m., the L.A. Kings’ Stanley Cup trophy will be on display for fans to see. There will also be opportunities for autograph-seekers with NHL greats in attendance.
The Stanley Cup is ushered into Staples Center at 10:30 a.m., then at 11:30 a.m. ticket holders are asked to be in their seats for the official hoisting of the 2012 Los Angeles Kings Stanley Cup Champions banner into its permanent position in the arena.
For the Kings themselves, the day is more than a celebration: it’s a back-to-work day. At 12:30 p.m. the puck drops for the first game of the Kings’ 2013 season when they face off against the Chicago Blackhawks.
