MOUNT WASHINGTON, NH – A Brooklyn Marine who defied death in Iraq nearly lost his life in an avalanche this week.
26-year-old Keith Zeier and two friends survived an 800-foot fall down New Hampshire’s Mt. Washington.
The three men were ice climbing when they were taken by the avalanche.
Zeier, who survived a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq that led to the amputation of his left leg, was climbing with a custom-made prosthesis.
He was raising funds and awareness for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
