PALMDALE — Ingrid Brewer called 911 last week to report her children missing.
Deputies found the brother and sister in the wee hours of the night, hiding in the freezing cold.
When deputies asked why they ran away – the children told them of abuse inside the home.
They told deputies they had been locked up, hit with cords, hit with a hammer and deprived of food.
Deputies say signs of abuse were evident -including marks on the children’s arms and wrists.
Neighbors next door who work most of the day at car financing jobs didn’t even realize children lived there.
And because the youngsters were home schooled there were no school officials to report the crimes.
In this suburban neighborhood of Palmdale – neighbors say the streets are often full of kids playing and that neighbors know one another – but that wasn’t the case with the Brewer family.
Kids in the neighborhood say they rarely saw the two children who lived here – even though they’re just about the same age.
