LONG BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — A San Pedro woman has been charged with beating up a 12-year-old girl who was a rival of her daughter in an alley fight that first aired exclusively on KTLA.
Amber Lee Gutierrez, 33, was arrested Tuesday for her alleged involvement in a prearranged fight in a West Gaffey Street alley after school on January 14.
Gutierrez was charged on Tuesday with assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury. She is being held on $100,000 bond.
If convicted as charged, Gutierrez faces a possible maximum state prison term of seven years.
According to police, the 12-year-old and Gutierrez’s daughter had agreed to fight in the alley, but mothers and adults showed up as well and got involved.
The girl suffered a broken arm. Her mother, who spoke anonymously to KTLA, said she’s disappointed Gutierrez hasn’t been charged with a hate crime.
Racial slurs are heard repeatedly on the video, which was recorded on a cellphone by an onlooker.
Prosecutors have not decided whether to charge Gutierrez’s sister, who is also seen in the video throwing punches.

This absolutely should be a hate crime. What is wrong with prosecutors/police in California? This would not be tolerated for 2 seconds anywhere else. ALL three of the aggressors should be charged, including the daughter. Two grown (and obese) women beating up a 12-YEAR-OLD?? WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM? AND THE PROSECUTORS? Is it because the aggressors are Hispanic? Make an example of these "parents!"

Wow is that mother and the aunt stupid. First of all, to teach the children not to talk it out instead of fight it out, stupid. Secondly, to join in, the grown ups automatically are going to force that child to be transferred out of that school and lose all her friends at 12 years old, just because those dumb mothers could not teach respect and discussion instead of fists and bullying. EVEN if the young lady who was hurt has a history of being the aggressor, which I am not saying she does, but EVEN if she did, the proper place to handle this is with the parents and the principal, not an alley. So the grey shirt 12 year old will lose every friend she has and transfer out of the school and the victim girl will feel mistrust of parents an authorities for a long time if this is not handled correctly.
I sure hope that they don't give the bully mom and Aunt jail, that is too easy, give them ugly orange suits and make them pick up trash off the freeway every day for the next 5 years and maybe a mandatory tube tying to make sure they don't have more kids.

FIRST OF ALL I am a mother of a 11 yr old who gets bullied everyday at school I have contacted everyone and their mother to fix this issue my child is small compared to he girl that picks on her and gets others to do the same to my daughter in dis video u clearly see how BIG the girl is and how small the mothers daughter is, NOW I WOULD NEVER put my hands on a child I can sympathize with the frustration that mother felt and took it into her own hands, SAY WHAT U WANT but when u are put in a situation like that it is heartbreaking HONESTLY i would like to know if that 12 year olds mother knew what was going on and did nothing to stop it before it got to this point..NOT SAYING ITS RIGHT just saying i can sympathize

I was thinking the exact same thing. The blonde girl is TINY and the other "child" is the same size of the mother! I think that there is more to this story. The small girl was probably bullied by the big kid and that's why the mother was there to begin with. Everybody is wrong here, and it looks as if one girl is just being gang beaten by three people, but bullies are always cowards when they are matched with someone their own size! The truth will come out. Clearly all degenerates, but who knows what life is like every day in that neighborhood?
