EAST LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Sheriff’s deputies surrounded a home in East Los Angeles Friday where a shirtless suspect camped out on the roof more than four hours.
It happened in the 5300 block of Grace Place, between Goodrich Blvd. and Hillview Ave.
At around 7 a.m., some bail bondsmen went to the home to take the man into custody for violation of his bond agreement.
He was out on bail on a burglary charge and is also an ex-con, according to Capt. Mike Parker, of the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
The man climbed into the attic of the residence to avoid being taken into custody, at which time the bondsmen contacted the East L.A. Sheriff’s Station.
A gun was located in the residence, another violation of his bail, Parker said.
The suspect climbed from the attic to the roof of the house, wearing only baggy shorts and socks.
He has not threatened to harm himself, Parker said. The suspect has apparently been expressing his anger at the bail bondsmen, the courts and the deputies.
Crisis negotiators were at the scene communicating with the man. Negotiators were also speaking with his family members.
Deputies offered him blankets and food, but he declined them, despite the weather and his lack of clothing.
The man finally climbed down from the roof around 11:30 a.m. using a ladder provided by deputies, making this a funny but harmless Father’s Day prank.

Gee, I've been in "distress" numerous times. I've never committed a crime, and then proceeded to violate my parole, and run from police by climbing onto a roof. Distress? Really?
Don't let your heart run away with your brain. The kindest thing you can do for this guy is to hold him accountable for his actions.

Stress? He is responsible for any of the, "stress," he experienced. His actions got him on a bail bond and in violation of that bond agreement. They should have saved all of those resources, sent one sniper, placed him about a block away, and bang! No more wasted resources, no additional tax payer dollars for court, and detaining his sorry gang banging behind.

Sad for him, he looks like he is at the end of his rope.( I can see that he is actually crying) …no way out, no money to save him from whatever got him in this position…. hate that Frank thinks about the wasted money this HUMAN is putting on us….Maybe the story should be " how did he get to this point" If we try to understand this early in the life of human beings we could help them make better decisions and be better HUMANS. It's hard for all of us out there I make $10.00 an hour and drive 60 miles a day for work so I barely make ends meet but you don't see me going out commting burglaries and then messing up after being bailed then wasting every bodies freakin time

Great. There is some guy on a rooftop in East LA on the ROOF of his house since 7am now…trying to evade the bail/bondsman that came to him. There must be 5 or 6 patrol cars there…and now the SWAT team just arrived. Really? Put a ladder up- give him instructions on how to get back down, and send all but two cars away. This doesn't warrant all this hype! if he choses to not use the ladder, he'll eventually fall off- either way, he is coming down. He's agitated….choppers in the air…really??
And as for Frank…..you're SPOT ON BUDDY. When the taxpayers money is wasted blatenly like this, CALL IT.

It's all about the decisions a person makes. Yes, as kids we make stupid decisions but then some of us learn from our mistakes and decide to make better decisions that put us in the the right direction. Some people continue going in the wrong direction and that is their decision to do so. Some people never learn. These people need to grow up and become responsible hard working people some time. Then they wouldn't have the background they do and be able to get jobs instead of doing burglaries.
