NEWARK, New Jersey (KTLA) — Mayor Cory Booker is being credited with saving the life of a dog left out in the freezing cold.
A local news reporter alerted the mayor Thursday night that the dog, which is named Cha-Cha, was shivering in the front yard of a house.
Mayor Booker went to the home to find the canine, then put it in a police car to warm up.
He was able to locate the owner’s cell phone number and gave him a call.
The owner, who was visiting friends in New York, says he was unaware that Cha-Cha had gotten out.
He was thankful to the mayor, especially since Cha-Cha has recently given birth to a litter.

Seems to me that the reporter and the mayor working together to elevate the mayor o an undeserved height. Reporter calls the mayor? Really? Who then calls the police about a dog? What a bunch of idiots!
The reporter needs to be fired for wasting taxpayer money.

The owner appears to have abandoned the dog for having puppies. Dogs don't just abandon their own puppies. I bet it winds up back on the street if it hasn't already.
I have three dogs, two of which were adopted when they showed up at my store starving and half-dead. One had been badly abused, and he while life has turned around more than you'd have ever thought possible.

Really? The mayor had to be present for someone to call the police? Are you nice or just an idiot for buying this garbage?

this was a ll a media set up. I can't believe KTLA and other stations bought into this crap. He is laying the foundation for a Presidential bid. Its too obvious this guy really can't be thinking he is going to go save everything including cats and dogs for a photo op to end up as national press. Its sad that people really buy into this crap. I just hope this does not turn into the next it thing to do. Next you will see Valar climbing a tree in East LA to save a cat.

"The owner . . . says he was unaware that Cha-Cha had gotten out."
My guess is, the owner is lying.
"He was thankful to the mayor, especially since Cha-Cha has recently given birth to a litter."
The owner ditched the dog because he didn't want to pay to have her spade, and hopefully has a large circle of friends who are nothing like he is or if there really are/were puppies, they'll likely see a similar fate.
