NORTH HILLS (KTLA) – A home in North Hills went up in flames early Saturday morning (Jan. 26), and fire crews responding to the blaze discovered a large-scale marijuana growing operation inside.
The blaze broke out shortly after midnight in the 9100 block of Monogram Avenue. Flames consumed the front room of the single-story home and extended into the attic.
Around 200 marijuana plants inside the home burned during the fire, and another roughly 300 plants remained intact.
One suspect who lived at the residence was placed under arrest by LAPD and taken into custody.
Neighbors around the residence said they had no idea that a major marijuana growing operation was being run in the middle of their neighborhood.
According to the LAPD, the fire forced no evacuations, and no injuries were reported.
