LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Five suspects arrested in connection with a robbery and hostage standoff at Nordstrom Rack are due in court on Monday.
Raymond Sherman Jr., 34, is charged with 19 counts, including rape, kidnapping for rape, assault with a deadly weapon and second-degree robbery.
He has already pleaded not guilty and returns to court for a pretrial hearing.
Four other defendants, including two women charged as being accessories, are also expected to appear in court.
Troy Marsay Hammock, 29, and Everett Oneal Allen, 24, faceĀ 14 counts each of second-degree robbery and one count each of assault with a deadly weapon, identified as a knife.
Rochelle Monique Sherman, 33, and Paula Roneshia Bradley, 29, are charged with one count each of accessory after the fact.
The incident began around 11 p.m. on Jan. 10 at the Promenade at Howard Hughes Center, near the 405 Freeway.
Sherman, Hammock and Allen allegedly confronted the employees as they were leaving the store, which had just closed.
As the incident was unfolding, one of the employees called her husband and told him to call 911.
The LAPD called a tactical alert and closed off the area around the shopping center.
SWAT officers surrounded the store. They finally made entry around 3:30 a.m. and freed 14 hostages.
At least three of the employees were injured, including at least one woman who was sexually assaulted, allegedly by Sherman Jr.
Another woman was stabbed in the neck and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and a third employee was pistol-whipped.
Law enforcement familiar with the investigation said there is strong evidence linking the crimes to those charged, including physical evidence and security video.

If you Google wiki gun violence you will see the average person has long odd of being shot.
Most of the persons shot are inner city, have a prior record and are younger than 25
The only thing that has proven to work is Project Exile, a pilot program first implemented in Richmond, Virginia, which prosecuted serious local gun crimes committed by felons under federal law, putting repeat offenders in federal prisons far away from their communities. This get-tough approach, which inspired President Bush's national initiative Project Safe Neighborhoods, ended up cutting the "gun carry" rate in half and reducing the murder rate in Richmond by more than 60%. The five-year mandatory sentence for committing a crime with an illegal gun changed criminal behavior. Similar initiatives have been implemented in cities throughout the country, but the coordination has been spotty and the Obama administration has failed to follow through on the model or add innovations to it.
We have 8000 handgun murders a year. Why we don't get tough on these felons is my question

How does somebody get arroused enough to rape while they are in the middle of a stressful robbery? I wouldn't think the brain could handle both events at one time.
