Malibu Kidnapping Suspect Arrested in Maywood Standoff

MAYWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) — A parolee who escaped from deputies after allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend is back behind bars.

Officials say 32-year-old Jaci Baragar was arrested Tuesday night in Maywood after barricading himself inside a home near 60th Street and Atlantic Boulevard for hours.

He was taken into custody shortly after 6 p.m. after a SWAT team fired tear gas into the home.

Investigators say Baragar stole a car in Huntington Park and kidnapped and sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

Deputies spotted the stolen car, a 1997 Nissan Sentra, with a man and woman inside near Pacific Coast Highway and Corral Canyon.

As officers were handcuffing Baragan, he broke free and took off with one handcuff on his wrist and no shoes.

The woman told deputies that Baragar had kidnapped her from her mother’s house and sexually assaulted her.

She also reportedly had a restraining order against Baragar.

Police said they found drug paraphernalia and live ammunition in the car, but no weapon.

It was not immediately clear how police tracked Baragar from Malibu to Maywood.

nice job LA County Sheriffs! Greg, you don't care for the comments, how about you go and educate those that commit a disproportionate amount of crimes in this country instead of ignoring the infestation.

This man should pay for what he did because it's hard to live in fear. Knowing that this type of person can freely walk in the streets. What if he does it again to other children. It's hard to take risk and better consider "what if's". That's why it's better to take extra precautions to feel our security.
