NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (KTLA) — A 75-year-old retired barber was charged on Wednesday with shooting and killing a urologist at a medical office in Newport Beach.
Stanwood Fred Elkus, 75, of Lake Elsinore, is charged with one count of special circumstances murder by lying in wait, with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a firearm causing death.
While Elkus was in court, family and friends gathered at a memorial service in Costa Mesa for Dr. Ronald Gilbert.
