PANORAMA CITY, Calif. (KTLA) — A pursuit of a possible DUI suspect ended with a brief and bizarre standoff in Panorama City on Friday.
The suspect came to a stop shortly after 11 a.m. in a residential neighborhood at Cantaloupe Avenue and Ashworth Street, just on the north side of Roscoe.
He proceeded to inhale some sort of substance from balloons that he was filling up from a tank.
Police threw a spike strip in front of the suspect’s vehicle, and he drove forward across it for a few feet and then reversed.
Finally, officers shattered the driver’s side window and pulled the suspect out of the car. He was dragged to the ground and handcuffed.
The suspect was taken away from the scene via ambulance. An update on his condition was not immediately available.
