Dorner Manhunt: A Timeline of the Case

The following is a timeline of the manhunt for former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner, who is now accused in three murders:

Sunday, Feb. 3rd:
-Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence found dead in a car at an apartment parking structure in Irvine
-Quan is the daughter of Ret. LAPD Capt. Randy Quan, a man involved in the dismissal process of Christopher Dorner in 2009.
-Dorner allegedly made false statements about a training officer, leading to his termination.

Monday, Feb 4th (9:30 a.m.):
-Items reportedly belonging to Dorner found in National City.
-They included what’s being described as Police Gear.
-Items were impounded and claimed by Irvine Police on Wednesday as part of investigation

Wednesday, Feb. 6th (Evening):
-Christopher Dorner is named as the suspect in the Irvine double homicide.
-6 Feet Tall, 270 pounds, black hair, brown eyes
-Believed to be driving 2005 Nissan Titan pickup truck (Blue or Grey in color)
-License Plate: 8D83987 OR 7X09131
-Last known address is in La Palma

Wednesday, Feb. 6th (Unknown time):
-Manifesto found on Dorner’s Facebook page
-Threatens LAPD officers

Wednesday, Feb 6th (10:30 p.m.):
-Man believed to be Dorner attempts to steal boat from 81-year-old man at Southwestern Yacht Club in Point Loma
-Victim says the burly man threatened him with a gun and tied him up
-Suspect was allegedly trying to flee to Mexico
-While attempting to start the boat, a rope became entangled in a propeller, disabling the boat.

Thursday, Feb. 7th (Around 1 a.m.):
-Two LAPD officers in route to reports of Dorner spotting begin following him on the 15 Freeway.
-At some point, he pulls off the freeway in Corona, exits his truck and fires a shouldered weapon at the officers.
-One officer is grazed, Dorner escapes

Thursday, Feb. 7th (Around 1:30 a.m.):
-Two Riverside officers on routine patrol are reportedly ambushed at a red light by a man believed to be Dorner.
-One officer killed, one is in critical condition
-Dorner escapes again.

Thursday, Feb 7th (2:20 a.m.):
-Per KSWB in San Diego, Wallet belonging to Dorner discovered near Lindbergh Field in San Diego
-Wallet also contained his LAPD badge
-Just a few miles from the yacht club where Dorner allegedly tried to steal a boat

Thursday, Feb. 7th (5:20 a.m. & 5:45 a.m.):
-Two shootings in Torrance
-Both reportedly involving vehicles similar to Dorner’s
-Two people injured in first shooting on Redbeam Avenue in Torrance
-No one injured in second shooting, near Flagler Lane and Beryl Street in Torrance
-Reportedly happened in a neighborhood where an officer mentioned in the manifesto lives

Thursday, Feb. 7th (afternoon):
-Dorner’s burned out pickup truck found off Forest Ford 2N10 and Club View Drive in Big Bear Lake
-Mountain resorts closed early, area schools locked down
-More than 150 officers conduct door-to-door searches

Friday, Feb. 8th:
-Manhunt for Dorner in Big Bear area continues
-Aerial search suspended due to heavy snow
-Crews focusing on area where truck found and mountain above
-Bear Valley schools closed; Big Bear and Snow Summit open
