MIAMI (KTLA) — A teenager who was found in contempt of court earlier this week for giving a judge the middle finger has gotten a second chance.
18-year-old Penelope Soto was back in court in front of the same judge on Friday.
Soto apologized to the court, the judge, and her family for her behavior.
The judge dropped the contempt charge, which carried a 30-day sentence.
He also waived Soto’s bail.
If Soto completes a drug diversion plan, all charges against her will be dropped.

she didn't have guts at all, she flipped him off while walking away, and then came back and cried about it apologizing. that was probably the only smart thing she did. her life is messed up, she's only 18. the judge is actually trying to just teach her a lesson and probably wants to get her back on track. it sounds like you may need to wake up and do the same. good luck to the both of you.

I have the guts to flip off a judge. But what makes me different than her is I have the intelligence not to do so. Obviously, Chris lacks both the intelligence not to do so, but the guts to do so as well.

I like this judge. I hope she takes this opportunity to straighten her life out and I hope she has the resources and support system. Many of the law-abiding, productive adults I know, had rocky starts but were able to turn it around, let's keep our fingers crossed for this young lady.
