BEVERLY HILLS (KTLA) – As Los Angeles and the elite of the music industry gear up for the Grammy Awards, it is a bittersweet weekend for many.
One year ago, troubled singing icon Whitney Houston lost her life just hours before music mogul Clive Davis’s annual pre-Grammy Gala.
The music executive says this year Whitney will be lovingly remembered.
Davis’s gala will be held Saturday night (Feb. 9) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. And Davis says this year Houston’s music will live on in everyone’s memory.
Houston was found drowned in her hotel room bathtub just hours before Davis’s party last year.
The Los Angeles Coroner’s office, in its report on Houston’s death, concluded that it was “due to drowning due to effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use. No foul play is suspected. The mode of death is accident.”
R & B singer Miguel is expected to take the stage at Davis’s party, but Davis is being tight-lipped about other performers for the evening.
Epic Records Chairman and CEO L.A. Reid will also be honored at the lavish bash, kicking off events leading up to the 55th Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center on Sunday night (Feb. 10).
