USS BOXER, At Sea — For the first time ever, a Starbucks coffee shop is now open on a Navy amphibious assault ship.
The fully functioning coffee shop will provide sailors with Starbucks’ line of coffees, teas and smoothies on board the USS Boxer, a San Diego based Ship.
Navy personnel were trained by Starbucks baristas on how to operate the machines and prepare the signature drinks.
The crew may use their Navy Cash cards to purchase any product from “Starboxer” during normal working hours.
All profits will go to the ship’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation fund, according to the Navy.

How the Navy traditionally goes to war: 1). Send in the Marines. 2). Make coffee.

My Navy is going to hell in a hand basket. These are suppose to be warships, now they have turned them into some dayuuummmm bed and breakfasts. A travesty I tell ya a complete travesty
February 14, 2013 at 12:50 AM
WHAT? Next is suppose is a MANI and PEDI facilities to treat chip nails. Unbelievable. Those sailors should be getting paid to do Sailor work not B/S work. Glad my 28 years in the Navy ended long before this type of crap was presented.

It may be a little excessive but if you were in the navy in the early years ( before A/C) you would appreciate any amenities that make you feel more comfortable . I retired in 74. Big changes since then.

Not the first time ever…we had it on the REAGAN in 2011 for the deployment in February. Still there throughout the DPIA too in the hangar bay.
