Suspect Shot, Killed by Police in Monterey Park
MONTEREY PARK, Calif. (KTLA) — A suspect armed with a handgun was shot and killed by police in Monterey Park on Friday morning.
It happened around 12:02 a.m. in the 400 block of Atlantic Boulevard.
Police had responded to a disturbance call between a boyfriend and girlfriend at a motel on Atlantic.
When the officers arrived at the location, they were directed to a vehicle that was leaving.
Two police units stopped the car on Atlantic Boulevard and Harding Avenue.
That’s when a male passenger exited the vehicle and brandished a handgun, according to police, prompting the shooting.
The male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and a handgun was recovered.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department is assisting Monterey Park police with the investigation.
