Alcohol Suspected in Deadly Van Nuys Car Crash
VAN NUYS, Calif. — A passenger was killed and the driver badly injured in a single car crash early Saturday morning.
The deadly wreck happened around 1:30 a.m. on Van Nuys Boulevard near Friar Street.
The car was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, according to police officers.
The vehicle jumped a curb and hit a palm tree before slamming into a storefront.
The passenger died on impact. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Alcohol was likely a factor in the crash, investigators said.
The 22-year-old driver was booked for manslaughter after being released from the hospital.
