WESTWOOD, Calif. (KTLA) — Residents and students near UCLA are on high alert after police say a man posing as a magazine salesman tried to sexually assault a woman.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. last Friday at the woman’s apartment in the 700 block of Gayley Avenue.
Police say the woman let the man inside, where he attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was not a UCLA student.
One student said the man also knocked on her door, but she did not let him in.
“He was trying to sell us these magazines, and so we were like, ‘Oh no, I don’t have any cash on me,’” she recalled.
“And so then he was trying to get us to give him any kind of money. He threw something in about, ‘Oh, you can donate some to the military or send subscriptions to the troops.’”
“When he whipped out his laminated, not very formal program, I was like I don’t think this is real,” she said.
The suspect was last seen walking down Gayley, near the UCLA campus.
He is described as a white male in his late 20s, about, 5’10″ tall and 200 pounds, with a shaved head.
He was wearing a navy blue sweatshirt, light blue shorts, tennis shoes and sunglasses on his head.
Back on January 7, there was a sexual assault on the UCLA campus near a parking garage. Investigators say they do not believe the attacks are related.

1. woman didn't want to be embarrassed (as is the case with a lot of sexual assault/rape victims who do not come forward)
2. police wanted wanted to keep the story on the wraps because of a possible lead on the suspect, and they thought he might run away if this was shown on news.
3. lazy cops. decided that sexual assault near a school was not that important to report to the media.

Scary, but insane, too. Yes, WHO would allow a total stranger in their residence under the guise of selling magazines.? STOOOPID! Just say, NO THANK YOU I read magazines at work or at the library, goodbye. NEVER, under any circumstances, allow ANY stranger into the privacy of your home. Even other woman, could be a scam to scope out your place and steal. Today, especially, world is full of gypsies, scam artists, rapists and thieves. How stupid are you to not do this??? Duhhhhh.
