Candlelight Vigil Held for Deputy Killed in Dorner Shootout

YUCAIPA, Calif. (KTLA) — Hundreds of people turned out Tuesday night for a candlelight vigil for the San Bernardino sheriff’s deputy killed in the final gun battle with Christopher Dorner.

Family, friends and fellow officers gathered at the Yucapia Community Center to share their grief and memories of Jeremiah MacKay.

deputy-mackayMacKay, 35, was a husband and a father of two, as well as a 15-year veteran of the sheriff’s department.

He was killed last Tuesday in a shootout with Dorner at a cabin in Seven Oaks, in the Big Bear area. One other deputy was wounded, but is expected to be OK.

A funeral service for MacKay will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the San Manuel Amphitheater, 2575 Glen Helen Parkway, in San Bernardino.
