WESTCHESTER, Calif. (KTLA) — An investigation is underway after a body was found in a burned out car Friday morning.
Authorities responded to a vehicle fire around 4:45 a.m. in the 5400 block of West 99th Street.
After the fire was put out, they discovered a burned male body in the driver seat of the vehicle.
The body is believed to be that of 46-year-old Brian Kelsey, who lived in a nearby apartment with his wife and son.
Brian Kelsey heard the sirens and ran outside to see his father’s car in flames.
“My instincts said it was him. My heart was praying it wasn’t him,” said Brian.
Lt. John Radtke of the LAPD said it appeared to be a hit-and-run.
Radtke said the 1992 Cadillac may have been having mechanical issues and was parked.
He believes it may have burst into flames after being struck by another vehicle.
Whoever hit the vehicle did not stop to assist or stay to talk to investigators.
The crash is now being investigated as a homicide.

Unfortunately just another murderous day in L.A. Estimates are 1% of people are nuts and 10% of people are criminals. The line that separates them from law-abiding citizens is the "thin blue line". Don't forget that!

Technically, it's still Westchester, 90045. It may be on the other side of the tracks from you but it's still Westchester.

Is something missing from this report? How did Brian run outside when he was is in the car burned?
February 22, 2013 at 7:43 PM
I agree, something is missing; wether it's the word "Jr." or "Sr" or the word "father", there is definitely something missing in that sentence. Right now it makes it sound like Brian ran out to the burning car and hopped in to his death . . .
