Man, 4 Dogs Killed in Hawthorne House Fire – Jennifer Gould Reports

HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KTLA) — An investigation is underway into a deadly house fire in Hawthorne.

The blaze was reported around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 13400 block of South Cerise Avenue.

The fire was contained to the single home, and was declared a knockdown at 6:26 a.m.

After the flames were extinguished, firefighters found an adult male deceased inside the home.

A woman in her 50s was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Four dogs were also killed in the blaze, according to L.A. County Fire officials.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation. It’s not clear where in the house the fire started.

Authorities said it did not appear that the house had working smoke detectors.
