SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KTLA) — An armed man who was barricaded inside a home in Santa Monica after holding two family members hostage has been found dead, police said.
It all began just after 5 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Delaware Avenue.
According to police, a 47-year-old man tied up his 86-year-old mother-in-law and his 15-year-old son, and held them hostage.
The teen was able to escape and call 911. Police immediately responded, and SWAT teams from Santa Monica and Beverly Hills were deployed.
Authorities managed to talk the man into releasing his mother-in-law, but he continued to refuse to surrender.
Police made entry into the residence around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, and found the suspect deceased, in an apparent suicide.
Police said they believe the incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the man and his estranged wife, who lived together at the residence.
The man was apparently armed with a handgun, and other weapons were also registered to the home.

Why are all the suicides after the grandstanding. Miss the good old days when losers just ran a hose from the exhaust to the driver’s seat. Now it’s “look at me” or harm the innocents first. What a waste of flesh.
