As a Santa Ana man walked away from a food truck on north Spurgeon street last December, and headed back to his apartment, he was stopped by two men with badges.
They identified themselves as Ontario police detectives.
The men were carrying replica guns and tasers.
Problem is, they weren’t cops.
They were frauds intent on beating and robbing him.
During out, the person behind the scheme, police say, was the victim’s ex-girlfriend, Rosa Tinoco.
Police say it was her jealousy that helped break the case weeks later.
That’s when the victim noticed Tinoco following him, with one of the fake cops, identified as 26-year-old Jose Paredes.
