ORLANDO, Fla. — Police on Tuesday released a graphic surveillance video and photograph depicting a man beating two women with a baseball bat outside a downtown Orlando condo early Sunday.
Orlando police late Wednesday arrested a man they say beat two women with a baseball bat in downtown Orlando and stole one of their purses.
Juan Carrillo, 48, was still at the police station early Thursday.
He was arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon, attempted murder and false imprisonment.
Investigators say Carrillo is the man captured on surveillance video whacking the women as they were about to enter The Grande condominiums on South Street about 12:25 a.m. Sunday.
He was wearing blue shirt and a tie.
Both women were knocked to the ground, but one ran for help as she bled from her head.
A witness described her “running towards him bleeding profusely from her head.”
The witness told police the attacker took the other victim’s purse, and then ran to a newer-model four door, white vehicle parked nearby.
He drove away “at a high rate of speed” on South Street.
The victims said they had never seen their attacker before, and did not believe they were followed to the complex by anyone.
Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.
